Materials Research Scientist
As the world’s leading manufacturer of Liquid Crystal (LC) and Organic Electronic (OE) materials, Merck is dedicated to providing unique, high quality products for technically demanding applications. We now have a vacancy for a Materials Research Scientist, within our Reactive Mesogens R&D Team, based at our Research and Development Site, near Southampton in the UK.
The role and responsibilities
The RM group is a multi-disciplinary team focused on the preparation of materials for optical components for the electronic industry. The Materials Research Scientist will be required to work on the synthesis and characterisation of organic polymer based micro and nanoparticles.
The position is classified as an Experienced Researcher (post-doc) according to the Marie-Curie Program, and will be for a fixed period of two years.
Do you meet these requirements?
The successful candidate should have a recent PhD in material science, preferably with experience in the preparation and characterisation of organic polymer based nanoparticles. You will be expected to work independently, but engage the rest of the team in the progress of the project and present your work to both internal and external audiences.
You should also be prepared to travel for periods of weeks or even months at a time to work at other institutes involved in the Marie-Curie Hierarchy Network as well as attend Hierarchy meetings.
Then why not pursue your career at Merck?
We offer a competitive salary, private medical insurance and a contributory pension scheme. If you want to find out more, or to apply for this position, please forward your details to owain.parri@merckchem.co.uk
