Positions at the Radboud University
Positions+RU
Two PhD positions are available at the Radboud University in the department of Molecular Materials. These projects include the preparation of novel materials, including the synthesis of ionic liquid crystals, liquid crystalline networks, nanoparticles, surface modification of substrates and nanoparticles.
The role of the researcher is to develop new concepts using liquid crystalline media as controllable matrices for programmed self-organisation, targeting length scales from nanometers to micrometers. This work will be in close collaboration with the department of Spectroscopy of Solids and Interfaces in the IMM and the other partners of the network.
In addition, a network-wide training programme on the bottom-up approach in Nanosciences, more particular in controlled assembly, will be offered.
The Molecular Materials Department is active at the interface of organic chemistry, functional materials and (single molecule) catalysis. Approximately 25 PhD and MSc students are working in the a highly interdisciplinary group. This is illustrated by the strong interactions with many research groups within the Institute for Molecules and Materials.
The Institute for Molecules and Materials is a recognised graduate school that works at the forefront of the design and synthesis of functional molecular structures and materials. The institute has an excellent track record, fostering an international collaborative atmosphere where scientists with backgrounds in (bio)chemistry, physics, and materials science work together to understand and control complexity in order to design new functionalities in various systems. The institute has excellent synthetic capabilities and a unique spectroscopy infrastructure.
