Hierarchy is pan-European Initial Training Network funded by the EU in the 7th Framework Programme. Its mission is to train and educate scientists in the rapidly growing field of nanosciences, in particular hierarchical self-assembly.
The goal of Hierarchy is to develop a tool box of aided assembly techniques for the construction of the next generation of molecular and biomolecular devices. Hierarchy is set up by leading European laboratories in (bio)chemistry, soft condensed matter and solid state matter, including Radboud University Nijmegen, Jozef Stefan Institute Ljubljana, RWTH Aachen, TU Eindhoven, University of Ljubljana, MPI for Dynamics and Self-Organization Göttingen, Philips Eindhoven, Balder Ljubljana, Planet Research International Wageningen, and Merck UK Southampton. Within the Training Programme of Hierarchy, you will also have the opportunity to work at the partner institutes.
Because of the highly interdisciplinary nature of the Hierarchy research programme applicants have to demonstrate a broad interest in various activity of the programme. In addition, candidates will be expected to travel regularly to Meetings and partner institutions.
Eligibility
Please note that the EU has published strict eligibility criteria for Early Stage Researchers (PhD students in most cases) and Experienced Researchers (post-docs). In short, candidates can not apply in their own country or the country that they have worked/studied in for more than 12 months over the last 3 years. Candidates from third countries are eligible under FP7. Women are encouraged to apply.
